WELCOME TO ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH
We are a community of faith strengthened by the incredible history gifted to us through God's grace. We are a worshiping community that has worshiped together for more than 263 years. And even though our building may be old, our Spirit isn’t. We continue to offer God's Word and Sacrament to the community and the world we live in. We hope that the welcome we speak to you is one that looks and feels like a welcome that comes to you from God. Whenever or however you choose to be with us, may you know that God has a special place and love for you.
Worship Information Sunday, March 24, 2024 Palm Sunday Sunday School - 9:00am Worship -10:00am
This week, the center of the church’s year, is one of striking contrasts: Jesus rides into Jerusalem surrounded by shouts of glory, only to be left alone to die on the cross, abandoned by even his closest friends. Mark’s gospel presents Jesus in his complete human vulnerability: agitated, grieved, scared, forsaken. Though we lament Christ’s suffering and all human suffering, we also expect God’s salvation: in the wine and bread, Jesus promises that his death will mark a new covenant with all people. We enter this holy week thirsty for the completion of God’s astonishing work.
